Bid Coordinator

Preconstruction & Estimating

Manages the logistics of getting a bid out the door on time, a realistic first job for someone interested in estimating who isn't ready to price a project yet.

Bid Coordinator

What is a Bid Coordinator?

A Bid Coordinator manages the administrative and logistical side of the bidding process, tracking invitations to bid, distributing drawings and addenda to subcontractors, organizing incoming subcontractor quotes, and making sure a complete, compliant bid package gets submitted before the deadline. It's a genuinely useful entry point into preconstruction: the role doesn't require pricing a job yet, but it puts someone in the middle of the estimating process early enough to learn how bids actually come together before moving into estimating itself.

Source: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS), Cost Estimators (SOC 13-1051), national data — entry/5-year/10-year mapped to the lower part of this occupation's wage distribution (10th-75th percentile), since Bid Coordinator is the entry point into estimating on this site's own progression path; see the Estimator page for the standard mapping and Senior Estimator for the upper part of the same distribution

Reviewed May 2025. Pay reflects the national wage distribution for this occupation, not a promise for any one job: entry level is the lower part of that range, 5 years in sits around the national median, and 10 years in is the upper part, since pay isn't actually tracked by years on the job. Real pay varies a lot by state, metro area, union status, and employer — scale these up or down for your market. These figures are base pay only: overtime, shift differentials, and per-project bonuses are standard across most construction trades and routinely push real earnings above what's shown here.

Education
